A big thanks to the good people of the Chilterns Fly Dressers’ Guild branch, who hosted a talk given by myself and Trout Fisherman editor Russell Hill last night. It was a chance for us to tell some readers/potential readers what we’re trying to achieve with the magazine and for them to tell us whether we’re getting close or not.
As such, it was a great success, with plaudits and brickbats alike giving Russ and myself invaluable feedback as to what anglers are looking for in a flyfishing magazine. It was also good to get a generally favourable reaction to our relaunch issue – out on 26 March – with our audience getting the first sneak preview of Trout Fisherman‘s new look.
Quote of the Night award goes to Dave Bartle for his in-no-way-sceptical definition of salmon fishing – “Standing in a river for 14 days while nothing happens…”
An honourable mention too, for Great Missenden’s Cross Keys pub, scene of the pre-meeting meal and the finest Irish stew this writer has ever set his cutlery upon.Which provides the perfect intro for Recipe Friday here at Taunted By Waters:
